A long-time client of Iron Gate’s, this consignor has always enjoyed wine and began to collect in earnest in 2008. He built a custom 1000 bottle cellar at his lake house and all wine is stored there or with Iron Gate. The wines on offer in this auction were all purchased through LCBO and Iron Gate auctions.
Winemaker notes - The year 1967 was characterized by cool weather and some drought. This is a good vintage for Cheval Blanc, full of elegance and sweetness. The wine is to be tasted today. Fresh and floral, the nose has aromas of red fruit and almond, but it is the note of chocolate filled with mint which dominates and gives this nose a very fresh, minty scent. The attack is quite fatty, full and sweet. The mid-palate, full of finesse, is distinguished. The palate is uplifting and fresh, with menthol and camphor aromas of eucalyptus and balsam. The vegetal hint that we feel leaves a somewhat harsh and austere finish, quite dry.
