All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.
The wine in this collection comes from an Ontario based cellar established in 1976. The owner has always had an appreciation of wine and he became more knowledgeable after reading A Wine Tour of France as a young adult. He built a cellar in his home and started to purchase wine for consumption as well as for collecting. Much of the wine came from the LCBO and their auction but he also purchased some in Alberta where he fondly remembers buying a 1967 Chateau D’Yquem. He doesn’t drink wine as much these days and decided to put some of his collection up for auction so that others have the opportunity to enjoy the wine he has collected over the years.
Producer notes- Created in around 1680, Château Latour is one of the oldest vineyards in the Médoc. There is a central plot known as the Enclos with 47 hectares of old vines that are maintained with extreme care, as these are the ones used to make the grand vin. Another 18 hectares of external plots, consisting of vines less than ten years-old and potentially declassified plots are used to produce the property's second wine, Les Forts de Latour. Latour's wines show exemplary consistency, whatever the quality of the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in their youth, they require long cellaring to reveal the full depth of their power and extraordinary richness. When perfectly mature, the wine has an incredible bouquet of blackcurrants, hazelnuts and leather. A monumental wine.
