All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.
This consignor grew up among the vineyards in the Niagara region and has fond memories of eating grapes off the vines at her friend’s family farm. It was during her 20s that she learned to appreciate wine, travelling through France, Italy and eastern Europe for business. In her 60s she began to collect wine seriously, some shipped to her by business associates and others purchased from wine merchants and collectors. The bottles have been meticulously stored in a custom designed wine cellar and were then moved into 2 temperature-controlled wine cabinets.
Producer notes- Château Montrose produces wines of remarkable quality. The vineyard is planted on a poor soil of iron-rich gravel, which forces the vines to develop very deep roots. The result is wines of incredible concentration. The property is currently managed by Jean-Bernard Delmas, who previously practised his talents at Château Haut-Brion. In 1778 Etienne-Théodore Dumoulin bought a perfectly located plot overlooking the Gironde from the Calon estate, which belonged to Alexandre de Ségur at the time. The land was covered with heather and was a sea of pink flowers in the spring. Hence the name Montrose (Pink Mountain). His son Etienne initiated wine production, planting the vineyard and building Château Montrose in 1825
