This extraordinary lot (a mirror of which was held in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary in September) brings together all five First Growths from the legendary 1982 vintage—Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Margaux, Château Haut-Brion, and Château Mouton Rothschild—alongside three of the year’s most celebrated “Super Seconds”: Lynch-Bages, Cos d’Estournel, and Pichon Lalande.The winning bidder will have the option of having their event led by one of our esteemed local sommeliers. The tasting may be hosted at the location of your choice in Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver, with other destinations available subject to travel arrangements.  A rare opportunity to both own and share the wines that defined a generation. All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 30 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to a $250 handling, administration and storage fee, including a subsequent $5.50/case/month and $1.50 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.

Please note that auction winnings from earlier auctions cannot be combined with current or future winnings for shipping purposes. Each auction's items will be processed and shipped separately.

It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.

This Ontario based consignor is a lifelong wine enthusiast who began building his collection in the 1970s. Despite humble beginnings, he developed a deep appreciation for wine early on, especially French vintages. Over the years, he amassed hundreds of bottles and traveled with his family to wine regions around the world to explore the people, land, and craft behind each bottle. In every home, he built a wine cellar maintained at 11–12°C with stable humidity. A personal touch: he always covered the floor in small pebbles to help prevent bottles from breaking if dropped. Now, after decades of collecting, he is ready to share many of these exceptional wines so others can enjoy and appreciate them as he has.

1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 100 points, James Suckling 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck 100 points. This is the tasting note for 1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. Over the last couple of years, I had inclined to the view that the 1986 vintage was eclipsing the 1982 Mouton Rothschild, but two perfectly conserved bottles this year put paid to that hypothesis. One of the emblematic wines of the vintage, offering up aromas of sweet crème de cassis, cigar wrapper, espresso roast, spices and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with a rich core of fruit
