All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 30 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to a $250 handling, administration and storage fee, including a subsequent $5.50/case/month and $1.50 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
Please note that auction winnings from earlier auctions cannot be combined with current or future winnings for shipping purposes. Each auction's items will be processed and shipped separately.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.
This Ontario based consignor is a lifelong wine enthusiast who began building his collection in the 1970s. Despite humble beginnings, he developed a deep appreciation for wine early on, especially French vintages. Over the years, he amassed hundreds of bottles and traveled with his family to wine regions around the world to explore the people, land, and craft behind each bottle. In every home, he built a wine cellar maintained at 11–12°C with stable humidity. A personal touch: he always covered the floor in small pebbles to help prevent bottles from breaking if dropped. Now, after decades of collecting, he is ready to share many of these exceptional wines so others can enjoy and appreciate them as he has.
The score for 1982 Chateau l'Evangile Pomerol is 98 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - A blockbuster, dark plum/garnet-colored wine, the 1982 L’Evangile reveals a decadent, extravagantly rich nose of caramelized fruit, plum, licorice, smoked meats, and toffee. This opulent, full-bodied Pomerol caresses the palate with layers and layers of glycerin and fruit. The tannin is barely noticeable in this massive, rich, gorgeous effort. The complexity of the nose alone is worth a special admission price. It is close to full maturity, and is capable of lasting another 20-25 years.
