A consignor from Calgary, he developed a deep passion for Scotch whisky just eight years ago. He was captivated by the wide variety of products and their exceptional aromas and flavors. Joining the esteemed Scotch Club and Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), he began curating his own collection. Over time, he traveled across Canada and the United States in search of the finest bottles, and his efforts paid off. At the height of his collection, it included 318 bottles, all carefully stored in a custom-built room in his home. Each bottle was kept upright in its original box, shielded from light. Now, he has decided to bring a selection of his treasured bottles to auction, hoping they will bring as much joy to others as they did to him.
The Old Pulteney 1983 - 33 Years Old represents a distinguished example of aged single malt. Distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2017, this whisky showcases the exceptional craftmanship of the Pulteney distillery. Its strength stands at 46% Vol., providing a rich, unfiltered whisky experience. This particular Old Pulteney spent its years maturing in two types of casks - ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. The initial maturation took place in American and Spanish oak casks, with a subsequent finish in Spanish oak casks seasoned with Oloroso. This dual maturation process creates a unique depth of character, enriching the whisky's complexity and adding an intriguing layer of flavour.
Nose- Stewed fruit and toffee before a building chocolate note, spicy vanilla and oily citrus.
Palate- Full-bodied with a sweet and savoury heart, salted caramel and dried fruit atop a vibrant honey and vanilla note.
Finish- Creamy, long and elegant.
