All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.
A prominent Toronto collector and long-time client of Iron Gate. Wines were purchased from the winery on release, shipped directly to professional storage and never touched until now. An incredible offering of American wine with excellent provenance.
Producer notes - Located just next door to the well-known Vieux Château Certan, Certan de May is fully known as Certan de May de Certan. It was once part of its more famous neighbor, but was then separated in 1858. The May family was a noble clan of Scottish origins that had settled in the area centuries before. When the family died out in 1925, the property was bought by André Badar, the father of its current owner. The estate is on the smaller side, even for Pomerol, with only 5 hectares that are planted to Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Though the Barrau-Badard family has owned the château since the depression of 1929, it is actually managed by the JP Moueix company, who oversee grape growing, winemaking and distribution. Due to its lesser known reputation, it can be good value.
