In the mid-1980s, this consignor attended a private tasting of 1960s Barolos, followed by a vertical of Mouton Rothschild which ignited a lifelong appreciation for the complexity and depth of great wines. He began collecting soon after, sourcing primarily from the Alberta Liquor Control Board, with select high-end bottles from dealers in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. Most bottles are carefully documented with purchase dates and stored in an insulated basement wine cellar equipped with temperature and humidity monitoring and an activated carbon air filter. The cellar maintains a consistent environment around 55°F with humidity generally over 70%.
1986 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac has following scores - Decanter 100. 1986 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac has the score of 95+ from Robert Parker and the tasting note -The 1986 Lafite Rothschild unfurls in the decanter and glass with aromas of earthy blackcurrant fruit mingled with notions of cigar box and red berries. Richer and darker in profile than the 1975 drunk alongside, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and concentrated, displaying a velvety attack and a lively core of fruit, with just a touch of the tannic asperity that often defines this vintage in the Médoc making itself felt on the finish. As it approaches its 40th birthday, the 1986 Lafite still needs several hours' decant to show its best.
