An avid collector since the late 1990s, this consignor developed a deep passion for fine wine under the mentorship of an experienced connoisseur. This interest lead him to join the Commanderie de Bordeaux (Halifax), where he secured the majority of his French portfolio through En Primeur selections. His collection, which at its peak exceeded 2,000 bottles, features First Growths acquired primarily through the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission and direct-from-winery allocations. Since 2008, the wines have been meticulously preserved in a custom-built, climate-controlled cellar equipped with professional refrigeration.
1988 Chateau Latour Grand Vin Pauillac from this lot has the following scores - Wine Spectator 96 points. This is the tasting note for 1988 Chateau Latour Grand Vin Pauillac from Robert Parker - The best showing yet for a wine from this under-rated vintage, the dark garnet-colored 1988 Latour reveals slight amber at the edge. A bouquet of melted tar, plums, black currants, cedar, and underbrush is followed by a sweet entry, with medium to full body, excellent ripeness, and mature tannin. It is a classic, elegant Latour with more meaty, vegetable-like flavors than are found in a riper year, such as 1989 and 1990. The 1988 has just begun to enter its plateau of maturity, where it should remain for 25 years. .
