The wines in this collection originate from a range of sources, including select boutique wine shops in London, New York City, and Beaune. Most of the Roumier bottles were purchased directly from the domaine. Although the wines have been moved a few times, they have consistently been kept in temperature-controlled storage to ensure optimal quality and preservation.
1990 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay Clos des Ducs Premier Cru from this lot has the following scores - BurgHound.com 93 points, CellarTracker 92 points. This is the tasting note for 1990 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay Clos des Ducs Premier Cru from Allen Meadows - The '90 has always struck me as a somewhat atypical Clos des Ducs without the supreme elegance it normally displays. The color is still quite dark with no bricking while displaying notably ripe and completely secondary fruit (though it stops just short of the roasted surmaturité that marks many '90s), along with notes of earth and a hint of sous-bois. This is markedly large-scaled Ducster and one that remains quite structured but with good supporting extract on the rich, bold and impressively powerful flavors that are delicious and hugely long if unusually robust as the tannins are on the chunky side. This is a dramatic effort that is undeniably extraordinary for its size, weight and power though I confess that it is not really my cup of Clos des Ducs. That said, I suspect that most people would find the '90 to be an imposing and altogether persuasive effort and on the positive side, this should continue to age effortlessly for many years to come. I have had this any number of times and my scores have varied from 92 to 95 depending on the integration of the tannins and overall sense of balance.
