This consignor’s fascination with wine began with a deep appreciation for the history, craft, and regional diversity of the world's great producers. Over time, that curiosity turned into collecting exceptional bottles built to age. Built over several years, his collection was assembled gradually with an emphasis on provenance, careful selection, and long-term cellaring rather than immediate consumption. The majority of the cellar was acquired through Iron Gate Auctions, supplemented by select purchases from provincial boards—including the LCBO, BCL, and AGLC—and acquisitions made while traveling. Once acquired, the wines were kept in dedicated, temperature-controlled storage—safely protected from light and vibration—where they remained untouched until consignment to ensure optimal condition.
1993 Chateau Haut Brion Pessac Leognan Premier Grand Cru Classe from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 92 points, CellarTracker 92 points, Wine Spectator 91 points. This is the tasting note for 1993 Chateau Haut Brion Pessac Leognan Premier Grand Cru Classe from Robert Parker - Quite a surprise in a difficult vintage, a strict selection and the superb terroir of Haut Brion triumphed over a very challenging year that produced many hard, relatively herbaceous wines. The color is a surprisingly saturated deep plum/ruby. Some sweet berry fruit intermixed with menthol, graphite, damp earth, and a hint of mushroom emerges in this medium-bodied, very elegant Haut Brion that is still firmly structured but has sweet tannin and surprising length and ripeness. The wine will always represent a sleeper style..
