This collection was established in 1992, sparked by a flight of Chateau Margaux that included the landmark 1982 vintage. Between 1993 and 2000, the owner built the cellar through the SAQ Courrier Vinicole, acquiring 100–125 bottles of First through Fifth Growth Bordeaux annually as futures, while selectively adding premier 1980s vintages through special SAQ offerings. As the sole proprietor, he has ensured the wines remained in consistent storage within his brother’s cellar. Following the sale of his brother’s home, the owner is now offering these long-held bottles to the market. This offering represents a carefully curated, single-owner cellar with 100% SAQ provenance.
1995 Chateau Haut Brion Pessac Leognan from this lot has the following scores - Vinous 95 points, The Wine Advocate 96 points, Wine Spectator 95 points. This is the tasting note for 1995 Chateau Haut Brion Pessac Leognan from Robert Parker - It is fun to go back and forth between the 1995 and 1996, two superb vintages for Haut-Brion. The 1995 seems to have sweeter tannin and a bit more fat and seamlessness when compared to the more structured and muscular 1996. Certainly 1995 was a vintage that the brilliant administrator Jean Delmas handled flawlessly. The result is a deep ruby/purple-coloured wine with a tight but promising nose of burning wood embers intermixed with vanilla, spice box, earth, mineral, sweet cherry, blackcurrant, plum-like fruit, medium to full body, a high level of ripe but sweet tannin, and a finish that goes on for a good 40-45 seconds. This wine is just beginning to emerge from a very closed state where it was unyielding and backward. Anticipated maturity - 2006-2035.
