This consignor grew up among the vineyards in the Niagara region and has fond memories of eating grapes off the vines at her friend’s family farm. It was during her 20s that she learned to appreciate wine, travelling through France, Italy and eastern Europe for business. In her 60s she began to collect wine seriously, some shipped to her by business associates and others purchased from wine merchants and collectors. The bottles have been meticulously stored in a custom designed wine cellar and were then moved into 2 temperature-controlled wine cabinets.
The tasting note for 1996 Chateau La Dominique St Emilion Grand Cru Classeis from Robert Parker - This smoky, lavishly-oaked wine reveals an impressive dark ruby/purple color. The nose offers up plenty of pain grille along with black cherries, raspberries, and dried herbs and smoke. The wine provides sweet fruit on the attack, low acidity, medium body, and a nicely-textured finish with fat/glycerin in evidence. Prior to bottling, I noted some astringency and awkward tannin, but neither were noticeable on the three separate occasions I had the wine out of bottle.
