The score for 1997 Staglin Family Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is 92 from Wine Enthusiast and the tasting note - A youthful, exciting wine that offers plenty of earth and cassis. It seems tight and closed now, with packed in tannins, a condensed mouthfeel and some mild green pepper notes on the tail end. Definitely a wine for the cellar. Give it some time and it should open up its wings. The score for 2001 Staglin Family Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is 94 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - A very strong showing for this wine, which is the quintessential Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, with loads of earthy soil undertones intermixed with sweet kirsch and black currant fruit. Some underbrush notes interwoven with forest floor and black currants hit the palate with resounding authority, yet retain their elegance and finesse in this medium to full-bodied wine, which is approaching full maturity. It should continue to drink well for another 15 or more years. "The score for 2009 Staglin Family Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is 95 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The dense blue/purple-colored 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate possesses a complex bouquet of black cherry and black currant liqueur, forest floor, baking spice and subtle background oak. This rich, complex, full-bodied 2009 is just beginning to open and show tertiary nuances. It should continue to age well for 20-25 years. It is good to see the Staglins exploit the well-known Bella Oaks Vineyard made famous by Joe Heitz."
