This collector’s passion for fine wines and spirits developed during his career in the hotel and restaurant industry in the 1990s. He began building his collection in 1993, sourcing primarily through the SAQ and Montreal auctions. Notably, his bottles of 1988 Rousseau Chambertin, 1983 DRC Grands Échézeaux and Échézeaux, and Château Ausone were acquired during the 2008–2009 auctions of the legendary Le Bistro Les Chenêts, home to one of Quebec’s most prestigious and diverse cellars. Since their acquisition, these bottles have been meticulously maintained in his personal wine cellar.
1999 Domaine Gros Frere Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - Wine Spectator 93 points, BurgHound.com 92 points, Vinous 92 points, CellarTracker 92 points. This is the tasting note for 1999 Domaine Gros Frere Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru from Allen Meadows - A ripe and now largely mature nose offers up plenty of spice nose to the mix of red and dark berries, anise and violet wisps. The supple yet decidedly punchy middle weight plus flavors exude an evident minerality on the reasonably complex and lingering finale. For my taste this has just about arrived at its peak though it should be capable of holding for at least another decade.
