This prestigious collection comes to Iron Gate from a revered connoisseur and long-time wine collector. Lover of American wines, he spent many years sourcing them from some of the USA's finest properties and had them stored professionally at 55 Degrees in Napa Valley. Recognizing his cellar had grown far beyond what he could reasonably consume, he's brought the wines to auction to share with fellow enthusiasts.
The score for1999 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is 91 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino, dark in color, floral, smoky, and redolent of truffles along with its plum fruit, is round, ripe, and elegant on the palate, smooth and shapely in format, a Beau Brumal with biceps. The score for1999 Poggio Antico Altero Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is 93 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Altero is powerful and intense in aroma and flavor, well endowed with liquorice and tar in addition to its plum fruit, sizeable and weighty on the palate and with a chewy texture and important intensity on the close. It will still be drinking well in 2020.
