An Ontario-based consignor who is bringing her late husband’s collection to auction. He started collecting in his 20s and loved everything about wine, buying, drinking, cooking, reading and especially getting together with the members of his wine group to discuss bottles. He purchased through the LCBO, some agents and through auction. All bottles were stored in their wine fridge, at a constant temperature of 56 degrees and away from bright light.
Winemaker notes- Visual- It maintains good intensity despite its long life. The brick tones predominate in the rim with the lively reflection of cherry tones that it had in its youth. Nose- Complex and mineral, it combines notes of ripe fruit from Tempranillo with the exuberant spices and aromatic herbs from Graciano. The common denominator is its aging in barrels, with notes of tobacco, chamomile and the character of the passing of time. In the background it also leaves sweet memories of honey, vanilla and nuts. Palate- Subtlety and finesse on entry, typical of the “Sonsierra DNA”, and driven by the sublime acidity of the Graciano. At the end, the tannic skeleton of the grape and the oak is more evident, providing more rugged, but at the same time very elegant, tactile sensations.
