Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.
This consignor, located in Oakville, began collecting wine in the late 1990s when his friend educated him on the pleasures of fine wine, the benefits of aging wine and the importance of proper storage. He bought 3 large climate-controlled wine cabinets and filled them with bottles purchased from the LCBO, other provincial retailers and from wineries directly. Over the past several years, he has been downsizing his collection bydonating to benefit auctions and now through Iron Gate
The score for 2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac is 94 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - A brilliant offering and a candidate for wine of the vintage, this is classic Lafite that reminded me somewhat of the 1976, although the vintage conditions were completely different. This is a medium-weight, quintessentially elegant style of Lafite with notes of lead pencil shavings/graphite along with black currants, plums, and crushed rocks/mineral. Wonderfully pure, dense, with a deep ruby/purple color and loads of fruit, definition, and a long finish, this is a brilliant, elegant Lafite Rothschild that builds incrementally in the mouth and has more power and density than it initially seems.
