A collector, based in Toronto, became interested in wine while visiting his father-in-law in Hong Kong over 60 years ago. He also owned a restaurant that had an impressive wine list and was was able to visit many wineries throughout France. He continued collecting after selling the restaurant with most of his bottles purchased upon release from the LCBO. He took meticulous care of his wine, labeling many of the bottles and storing them in a temperature and humidity controlled cellar in his home.

The score for 2002 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac is 93 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 2002 Lynch-Bages is showing brilliantly, after a four-hour double decant, wafting from the glass with an utterly classic nose of cassis and loamy soil mingled with hints of cedar and oak vanillin. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with plenty of rich, powdery tannins and lively acids, as its structure begins to melt, the wine's depth and length is becoming more and more apparent. Like the best examples of this vintage, the 2002 Lynch-Bages has proven a real sleeper. The score for 2002 Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron Pauillac is 93 from WineSpectator and the tasting note - Dense aromas of licorice, tobacco, cedar and currants. Subtle yet complex. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a rich, long finish. Very pretty. One of the best from Pauillac this year, and clearly better than 2001. One of the surprises of the vintage. The score for 2002 Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac is 91 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Tasted at Berry Bros. vertical in London. A dark garnet core. The nose demands some coaxing, blackberry, a touch of bay leaf and wild hedgerow. Very fine definition. After a few minutes in the glass, it develops a subtle liquorice element. The palate is medium-bodied, full of freshness and vigour. The tannins are not quite as fine as a great vintages, this is a brisk, brusque Pontet-Canet that actually does remind me of Mouton-Rothschild in many ways. Then, a little herbaceous towards the dry finish, linear and moderate length. Very good for the vintage.
