The score for2004 Cantina del Pino Ovello Barbaresco DOCG is 94 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -I have been looking forward to tasting the estate's 2004 Barbaresco Ovello for some time. It is an exceptional wine that expresses the pedigree of the vintage in its sweet, expansive personality. Ripe dark fruit, toasted oak and balsamic nuances are all woven together in a powerful, structured style. Ovello is one of the cooler micro-climates in Barbaresco and this wine remains quite powerful and tannic today. It should develop beautifully over the following years. Cantina del Pino is a great source for top-notch wines from Barbaresco. The score for2007 Cantina del Pino Barbaresco 150th Anniversary is 92 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -The 2007 Barbaresco emerges from the glass with red cherries, flowers, mint, minerals and licorice in a gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo. The 2007 shows the warmth and openness of the vintage in a restrained, highly polished, mid-weight style that is utterly irresistible. Readers who haven’t discovered Cantina del Pino yet owe it to themselves to do so. Proprietor Renato Vacca is making some of the most compelling wines in Piedmont today. Along with Andrea Sottimano, Luca Roagna and Giorgio Pelissero, Vacca is one of the most promising producers among the younger generation in Barbaresco.
