An Ontario based collector who spent summers during university as a French/English translator for wine tours in the Rhone Valley. He started collecting, slowly, 25 years ago but his interest piqued after he began to attend the LCBO vintage dinners, notably one with Chateau de Beaucastel’s Thomas Perrin. Most of his wine was purchased through the LCBO and stored at his cottage in a climate-controlled cellar.
The score for 2005 Bodegas Garcia Nino Altorredondo Tempranillo Cosecha Propia is 93+ from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The purple-colored 2005 Altorredondo was aged for 16 months in new French oak. It is a glass-coating opaque purple with a brooding bouquet of pain grille, underbrush, Asian spices, violets, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Dense, ripe, and layered on the palate, this savory, lengthy effort will profit from 6-8 years of additional cellaring and will have a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2030.
