This collection is the legacy of a passionate collector of prestigious & rare bottles for the past 50 years. The gentleman was fortunate to have been introduced to wine by an older brother who navigated him through the vineyards of the world. The bottles for sale reflect an interest in top grade Bordeaux and very rare large format Super Tuscan wines. These bottles were purchased from an Alberta distributor and stored in a temperature-controlled home cellar from time of purchase through to May 2024. They were then transferred to a temperature-controlled storage facility before shipment to Irongate in September 2025. The collection will certainly please afficionados of rare large format bottles. All the bottles are in impeccable condition with high shoulder levels.
2005 Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion from this lot has the following scores - Vinous 100 points, The Wine Advocate 100 points, Falstaff Magazine 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck 100 points, The Wine Independent 100 points. This is the tasting note for 2005 Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. The 2005 from Cheval Blanc is a quintessentially elegant, beautiful, deep bluish/ruby-colored wine from St.-Emilion, with raspberry, blueberry, and floral notes, impressive density, great precision, freshness and purity. Full-bodied, but extremely light on its feet, I don’t mean to gush, but it is super-intense, rich and just so meticulously crafted! This is another fabulous wine and a perfect expression for this vintage. It is difficult to forget the gorgeous blueberry and raspberry fruit, full body, sweet tannin, a multi-layered texture, and purity and palate presence of this stunning wine. Drink it over the next 20 years. P.S. In 2005, this was 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot.
