2005 Chateau Faugeres Peby Cuvee Speciale St Emilion Grand Cru Classe from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 100 points. This is the tasting note for 2005 Chateau Faugeres Peby Cuvee Speciale St Emilion Grand Cru Classe from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. A perfect wine in this vintage, the 2005 Péby Faugères has the classic liqueur of blueberries and spring flowers. Dense purple and full-bodied, with unbelievable richness, this tastes like a great Napa Cab from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, even though there’s no Cabernet Sauvignon in it. This is a sensational wine – rich, full and multi-dimensional, with a skyscraper-like mid-palate and finish. Kudos to Péby Faugères for producing one of the perfect wines of the vintage. Drink it in about 3-4 years as well as over the following two decades. 2005 Chateau Pape Clement Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe from this lot has the following scores - Jeb Dunnuck 100 points. This is the tasting note for 2005 Chateau Pape Clement Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. Owned by Bernard Magrez, this great terroir a few miles from Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion has produced one of the superstars of the vintage. A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, Pape Clement’s 2005 has an opaque purple color and smoky barbecue and chocolaty notes intermixed with cassis and blackberries. There is also some underlying minerality in this full-bodied, super-concentrated wine, which has wonderfully sweet, well-integrated tannins. This majestic, multidimensional wines is one of the great, great wines of the vintage. It should drink well for at least another 25 years.
