An Ontario based collector who spent summers during university as a French/English translator for wine tours in the Rhone Valley. He started collecting, slowly, 25 years ago but his interest piqued after he began to attend the LCBO vintage dinners, notably one with Chateau de Beaucastel’s Thomas Perrin. Most of his wine was purchased through the LCBO and stored at his cottage in a climate-controlled cellar.
The score for 2005 Domaine Duclaux Chateauneuf du Pape is 91 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Slightly deeper and more saturated ruby/purple in color than the 2006 is the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is possibly the best Domaine Duclaux’s Quiot has yet produced. The wine has a beautiful nose of salty ocean breezes intermixed with a hint of seaweed, blackberry, kirsch, and spice box. It is deep, multi-layered, and rich, with superb fruit and a long, heady finish with light to moderate tannins that are well-integrated in the wine. It should drink well for 15 or more years.
