The wine in this collection comes from an Ontario based cellar established in 1976. The owner has always had an appreciation of wine and he became more knowledgeable after reading A Wine Tour of France as a young adult. He built a cellar in his home and started to purchase wine for consumption as well as for collecting. Much of the wine came from the LCBO and their auction but he also purchased some in Alberta where he fondly remembers buying a 1967 Chateau D’Yquem. He doesn’t drink wine as much these days and decided to put some of his collection up for auction so that others have the opportunity to enjoy the wine he has collected over the years.

The score for2005 Domaine Laroche Chablis Grand Cru Les Blanchots is 91 from Allen Meadows and this is the tasting note -A ripe, airy and expressive nose of white flower and subtle exotic hints framed by a background hint of brioche merges into impressively rich and intense flavors that have excellent volume on the mineral-infused finish that is impressively long. The score for2005 Domaine Laroche Chablis Premier Cru Les Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes is 90 from Allen Meadows and this is the tasting note -A background touch of wood frames the green fruit and oyster shell nose where the marine influence carries over into the delicious, classy and refined flavors that offer real depth of material and fine finishing complexity. This will be capable of aging but be approachable young as well. Lovely.
