This prestigious collection comes to Iron Gate from a revered connoisseur and long-time wine collector. Lover of American wines, he spent many years sourcing them from some of the USA's finest properties and had them stored professionally at 55 Degrees in Napa Valley. Recognizing his cellar had grown far beyond what he could reasonably consume, he's brought the wines to auction to share with fellow enthusiasts.
The score for2006 Chasseur Wines Freestone Station Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is 94 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -Bill Hunter also demonstrates a sure hand with Pinot Noir. The deep ruby-hued 2005 Pinot Noir Freestone Station (from Dijon clones 115, 777, and 23) boasts a striking chocolate, sweet cherry, spice, and floral-scented nose. It is an elegant, cool climate Pinot with loads of flesh, intense strawberry and black cherry fruit on the palate, and abundant glycerin as well as richness.
