This Toronto based collector was introduced to wine when he tried some Bordeaux in university from 1982, 1986 and 1990. He began his own collection in 1992. He became interested in Burgundy after tasting with some enthusiasts in the early 2000s. His wine all comes direct from the winery, distributor or LCBO on release and is stored immediately at the Fine Wine Reserve. All of the bottles in this auction were purchased through the LCBO on release.
The wine in this lot has a score of 94 from Robert Parker and the following tasting note -The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's 2007 Richebourg Grand Cru is still a few years away from the beginnings of maturity, and while it's quite dramatic immediately after opening, offering up aromas of peonies, orange rind, red plums, raspberries and exotic spices, it becomes a little more aromatically reserved after a few hours. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and sumptuous, it's ample and fine-boned, with filigree tannins, bright girdling acids and a long, saline finish.
