The consignor developed a love for red wine through its rich flavors and aromas; a passion sparked during her first trip to Napa Valley with her husband. Their shared enjoyment of the wine experience led to multiple return visits and direct shipments from top wineries to their home. Other bottles in the collection were purchased at Baseline Wines in Sherwood Park. All bottles have been carefully stored in a dedicated basement wine cellar, rotated regularly to ensure optimal aging.
2008 Bond Estates Melbury Napa Valley from this lot has the following scores - Vinous 95 points, James Suckling 94 points, Wine Spectator 93 points, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 93 points, CellarTracker 93 points, The Wine Front 93 points. This is the tasting note for 2008 Bond Estates Melbury Napa Valley from Robert Parker - The 2008 Melbury flows across the palate with layers of dark sensual fruit, spices, licorice, leather and tobacco. Clean veins of minerality frame the fruit beautifully through to the finish. Floral notes add an element of brightness on the close. Bill Harlan and his team make the BOND wines through long-term lease arrangements they hold with vineyard owners in a handful of top hillside sites in Napa Valley. The Melbury, Quella and Vecina vineyards are planted with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The St. Eden vineyard includes 5% Cabernet Franc that was recently grafted onto Merlot rootstocks, while the Pluribus vineyard includes 13% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. Overall, the 2008s are less consistent than the 2009s, which are shaping up to be brilliant. I also tasted a number of 2010s from barrel with Bill Harlan and winemakers Bob Levy and Corey Empting that were striking for their purity, depth and class. 2008 Bond Estates Quella Napa Valley from this lot has the following scores - Wine Spectator 94 points, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 94 points, The Wine Front 94 points, Vinous 93 points, The Wine Advocate 93 points, James Suckling 93 points, CellarTracker 93 points. 2008 Bond Estates St Eden Napa Valley from this lot has the following scores - Vinous 96 points, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 96 points, The Wine Front 96 points, The Wine Advocate 94 points, CellarTracker 94 points. 2008 Bond Estates Vecina Napa Valley from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Front 97 points, James Suckling 96 points, Vinous 95 points, The Wine Advocate 95 points. 2008 Bond Estates Pluribus Napa Valley from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Front 96 points, Vinous 95 points, The Wine Advocate 95 points, Falstaff Magazine 95 points, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 94 points, CellarTracker 94 points.
