While studying economics at UCLA, the consignor frequently spent weekends and holidays exploring nearby wine regions such as Santa Barbara, Napa, and Sonoma. Upon returning to Canada, he joined Janet Webb (J. Webb Wine Merchant), where his journey as a collector began. He had the good fortune of acquiring wine through the shop and, later, during his time operating Highlander, enjoyed access to an extraordinary range of wines. His travels took him to nearly every major wine region, and he consistently brought back bottles to add to his collection. His cellar was maintained across his home, his company’s warehouse, and several EuroCaves, all temperature-controlled.
2010 Chateau Pape Clement Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck 100 points. This is the tasting note for 2010 Chateau Pape Clement Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Pape Clement comes wafting sensuously from the glass with fragrant notions of dried roses, Chinese five spice and sandalwood over a core of kirsch, warm cassis and plum preserves plus a touch of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely crafted with a firm line of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the perfumed fruit through the incredibly long finish.
