An Ontario based consignor who grew up in a household where wine was always on the dinner table, he developed a taste for it early on. In 2010 he began to take collecting seriously after having tasted older vintages of Pichon Lalande and Latour. He started by sourcing wine at the LCBO but quickly turned to buying from agents, auctions, the SAQ, and retailers in the United States and Europe. Bottles have been stored in a climate -controlled cellar.
The tasting note for 2010 Domaine Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes is from Robert Parker and the score is 99 - Even more extraordinary is the compelling 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle. Inky bluish/purple, the wine offers up notes of incense, camphor, blueberry, blackberry and black raspberry liqueur followed by an exciting, full-bodied, multi-dimensional mouthfeel and finish of close to a minute. This is stunningly rich and pure, yet has remarkable delineation, and because of the acid profile of this vintage, it seems light on its feet despite what I’m sure is 15%-plus alcohol. This wine should evolve over a two decade span and be completely drinkable over that entire period.
