A Vancouver-based cellar who purchased all wines on release from trusted importers/agents. Wines were stored professionally from the time of purchase. Looking to pair down his cellar, Iron Gate is delighted to bring these wines to auction.
The wine in this lot has a score of 95 from Allen Meadows and the following tasting note -A pure, elegant and nicely perfumed if still relatively primary nose offers up mostly notes of various red berries, earth and spice nuances that are trimmed in just a touch of wood. The intense, sleek and muscular yet relatively refined broad-shouldered flavors possess superb volume and almost breathtaking power on the explosive and mouth coating finish. This is a classic Corton yet consistent with the style of the 2010 vintage, it not especially rustic, indeed the tannins, while firm, are comparatively sophisticated. A knock out by any standard but at the same time, a wine for the patient though with the right foods, this could actually be enjoyed, infanticide though that might be.
