A Toronto based collection which was started in 2013. The consignor began drinking wine in the early 2010s and enjoyed collecting rare wine for special occasions, which led to travelling around different wine regions in the world. Wine in this auction was procured directly from vineyards, LCBO, and through distributors in the US. All bottles were stored at a consistent 55 degrees in a sub zero wine fridge before arriving at Iron Gate.
Producer notes - Quintarelli is among the five most revered estates in Italian wine, and its iconic founder Giuseppe Quintarelli was a living legend during his time at the helm. Antonio Galloni writes in Vinous, "Today, Quintarelli's grandson, Francesco, seems to have the estate under firm control... As for the wines, well, they have no peers. Once readers have acquired a taste for these heady wines, there is no turning back. It's as simple as that." The Rosso del Bepi is declassified Amarone. The Quintarelli estate only produces its Amarone is truly exceptional years, and otherwise the wine is labelled as Rosso del Bepi. In less than ideal vintages, neither wine is produced. So, this wine should not be viewed merely as a sub-par Amarone. The selection involved in its production is every bit as discerning as with the iconic Amarone.
