Acting on behalf of his late brother’s estate, this consignor is offering a collection for auction. The collector was a dedicated wine enthusiast who sourced his bottles from LCBO special programs to start, then direct from agents and finally directly from producers (Piedmont in particular). His collection was stored both professionally, in Vintage Keepers, and in an 1850-bottle custom-built home cellar with full temperature and humidity-control.

This is the tasting note for 2012 Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi Maremma Toscana IGT from James Suckling - with a score of 100 points. A phenomenal Saffredi with so much structure and length. It’s full-bodied yet remaines agile and lively. Aromas and flavors of currants, mint and wet earth. Full-bodied, chewy and powerful. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. This has a special label celebrating the 25th anniversary of the production of this wine. It's the greatest Saffredi ever, cementing its reputation as the Lafite of Tuscany. This needs at least five years in bottle but it’s entrancing to drink now. A must-buy for Super Tuscan lovers. 2019 Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi Maremma Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - Wines Critic 100 points. This is the tasting note for 2019 Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi Maremma Toscana IGT from Robert Parker - with a score of 98 points. Wow, the Fattoria le Pupille 2019 Saffredi is a gorgeous standout in this retrospective. The wine benefits from long and slow-ripening fruit in a vintage that prizes depth and complexity. You sense the many layers and nuances in the 2019, especially compared to the more monolithic 2020 vintage. This wine is impeccably assembled with a dark fruit component that is elegantly framed by soft oak toast and spice. There is an almost milky quality with macadamia nut or almond cream that serves to smooth out the finish. It ends with velvety soft tannins. I'm sure that the 2019 will benefit from more time in bottle.
