This Toronto based consignor bought his first serious bottle of wine in 2005 after attending a Burgundy tasting. He had the privilege of tasting blue chip wines with excellent provenance and realized the investment potential and unlimited dividends of enjoying the wine and was hooked. He purchases through the LCBO and direct from wineries and stores his bottles at a professional storage facility.
The tasting note for 2011 Benjamin Leroux Corton Grand Cru is from Burghound, Allen Meadows - Benjamin Leroux, the highly talented régisseur of Domaine Comte Armand (see above), has started a négociant operation in a building just off the traffic circle in Beaune (known as the périphérique, or just the périph by the locals) that he shares with Nicholas Rossignol. Leroux emphasizes that he wants to keep his operation small and focus on terroirs that he finds "interesting or under appreciated". He works essentially as he does at Comte Armand and notes, importantly, that for both reds and whites he buys exclusively grapes and not must or new wine.
