The consignor, a former wine buyer for over 100 restaurants across the past decade, developed his expertise through extensive travel and hands-on experience in the global wine industry. During his career, he was given several exceptional wines—some beyond his personal taste or price range. Now, he hopes these bottles will find a home with collectors who share the passion and means to appreciate them fully. Originally purchased from Willow Park Wines in Calgary, the wines were professionally stored in a temperature-controlled basement room, rotated three times per year. They have only ever been housed in two properties under consistent conditions, with the consignor taking great care to preserve them according to industry standards.
This is the tasting note for 2012 Verite La Joie Sonoma County from Robert Parker - with a score of 100. The 2012 La Joie, which is a blend of 76% Cabernet, 12% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, blew me away. A profound effort, with 55% of it coming from Hillsides in Alexander Valley, 31% from Knights Valley and the balance from Chalk Hill, the wine shows great minerality, oodles of creme de cassis fruit, incense, licorice, crushed rock, and a provocative full-throttle mouthfeel. A wine of great intensity, purity and equilibrium, this definitely begs for 4-7 years of bottle aging and should drink well for at least 30+ years.
