A Quebec based consignor whose passion for wine began in the early 1990s after joining a local wine club featuring winemaker presentations and paired tastings. Inspired by these experiences, he started collecting bottles he particularly enjoyed—an interest that grew over time. Most of his collection was acquired through the SAQ, supplemented by select private imports from wine agencies in Quebec and Ontario. The wines have been meticulously stored in his home cellar and in temperature-controlled facilities at various SAQ locations.
2014 Marchesi Antinori Solaia Toscana from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 95 points, James Suckling 95 points, Falstaff Magazine 95 points, Vinous 94 points, Wine & Spirits Magazine 94 points, Wine Enthusiast 94 points, Wine Spectator 93 points, CellarTracker 93 points. This is the tasting note for 2014 Marchesi Antinori Solaia Toscana from Robert Parker - The 2014 Solaia will be released during the second half of 2017. This is a fine-tuned expression that shows a focused sense of detail and careful attention. The quota of Cabernet Franc has been upped by a hair and this makes a big difference, especially in terms of the wine's bouquet. Otherwise, this celebrated Tuscan blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Sangiovese. It opens to dark fruit aromas with crushed mineral, pipe tobacco, pressed flower and toasted spice. Its appearance is midnight black and profound. The wine delivers a sense of sheer excitement and nervousness that will subside with another few years of bottle age. Nonetheless, I think a certain amount of that bright edginess or rigidness will always be part of this cool vintage Solaia. In the mouth, the wine is firm, compact and dense. The tannins are chiseled to the point of sublime integration. Marchesi Antinori made 40% less Solaia in this vintage in order to maintain the quality you taste here. 2014 Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC from this lot has the following scores - James Suckling 95 points, Jeb Dunnuck 95 points, The Wine Advocate 94 points, Adrian van Velsen - vvWine.ch 94 points. 2014 Tignanello Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - Vinous 96 points, Wine Enthusiast 95 points, James Suckling 94 points.
