An Ontario based collector that started collecting 14 years ago, after a life-altering tasting experience with a bottle of Harlan Estate. The entirety of his collection was sourced direct from wineries, the LCBO and the SAQ. None of the wines offered are from auction. Since acquisition, all his wines have been stored in a residential, temperature and humidity-controlled custom cellar before being brought to auction.
The score for 2015 Domaine de Montille Hommage Pommard Les Rugiens Bas Hubert Premier Cru is 94-96 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The re-christened 2015 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens Cuvée Hubert is 100% whole cluster fruit from Rugien-Bas, matured in 45% new oak. The grapes went through a selection process and will be labelled as "Cuvée Hubert" and will only be bottled in magnums. It has a beautiful bouquet, so pure and refined, with red cherry, wild strawberry and wet limestone aromas. The palate is very well defined with a crisp line of acidity and very fine tension- the wine is very focused, a gentle grip on the finish with a long and persistent, minerally finish. I think Hubert de Montille would appreciate this.
The score for 2015 Domaine de Montille Hommage Vosne Romanee Aux Malconsorts Christiane Premier Cru is 90-92 points from Vinous and the tasting note - Bright ruby-red. A touch of reduction but also lovely violet lift to the aromas of blackberry, black cherry and spices. The sweetest and supplest wine yet to this point, with intriguing saline minerality adding interest to the black fruit and spice flavors. Seriously rich, dry, densely packed village wine with terrific mineral extension on the finish. These vines were picked at the end, noted Méo.
