An Ontario based consignor whose interest in wines began at the National Golf Club of Canada, known for its exceptional collection. Occasionally, the club offers some of its vintage selections to members, which sparked his passion for collecting. He started by purchasing Burgundy and Bordeaux wines and gradually expanded his collection to include Italian and Californian wines. Most of his vintage bottles were sourced from the club and were stored at the Vintage Conservatory in Yorkville.
The scores for 2015 DRC Romanee St Vivant Grand Cru - Adrian van Velsen - vvWine.ch - 98, Decanter - 97, BurgHound.com - 96, Vinous - 96. The rating for 2015 DRC Romanee St Vivant Grand Cru is 95 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2015 Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru was showing superbly from bottle, bursting from the glass with a dramatic and expressive bouquet of rose petal, violet, raspberry and spicy red cherry that has already digested its framing of new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, expansive and supple, its frame of fine-grained tannins cloaked in a deep core of vibrant fruit and only asserting themselves on the long, penetrating finish. This is a superb Romanée-St-Vivant that nips on the heels of the fabulous Richebourg this year. Cropped at 26 hectoliters per hectare and harvested September 9, 10 and 11.
