An Ontario based collector whose French father bought wine as a treat when he was growing up. As he grew older, he wanted to appreciate what his father saw in wine and began to read wine books and take college wine tasting courses. When he started working, he bought his first Bordeaux futures in 1996 and has not looked back. Most of his bottles come from the LCBO but he also purchased through SAQ. He also has a collection of California cabs in professional storage in the US. His wines here were stored in his cellar, humidity and temperature controlled.
The score for 2016 Tor Wines Black Magic Napa Valley is 98 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 2016 Proprietary Red Black Magic is made up of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Petit Verdot sourced from Vine Hill Ranch vineyard. Deep purple-black in color, it gives exuberant cassis, black plums and blackberries with Indian spices, pepper, cardamom, eucalypt and dark chocolate. Very firm and grainy, the medium to full-bodied palate is taut and muscular with mineral and earthy notes, finishing very long.
