An established, private cellar from Toronto. Filled with Old World icons and New World classics, the wines were largely sourced from the LCBO, trusted importers, and direct from wineries. All the bottles were stored in a home cellar under temperature control.
The wine in this lot has a score of 99+ from Robert Parker and the following tasting note -Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in French oak, 75% new, and bottled in July 2020. Very deep purple-black in color, it needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock beautifully pure notions of baked plums, blackcurrant pastilles, black raspberries and boysenberries with fragrant suggestions of violets, iron ore, tilled soil, tree bark and wild fungi plus a touch of garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is very tightly knit with exquisitely pixilated, very fine tannins and great tension supporting the intense, wonderfully nuanced fruits, finishing very long and very minerally. 616 cases were made. “I feel excited in a lot of ways about the 2018s,” Bryant Family’s winemaker Kathryn Carothers said. “It was a very different vintage. Not since 2011 was there a cooler vintage like this. It offers more structure than the 2012s. I like the restraint of the 2018s as well as the fruit and tannin profile. We seem to always avoid frost here as well as the heat spikes. The site is really consistent. We didn’t have really high yields in 2018.” I absolutely adore the expression of these Bryant 2018s. There is a natural, seemingly effortless beauty about the wines. Indeed, these wines have amazing restraint, and while they have the structure and stuffing for long aging, they seem to be holding something back at this stage. Higher scores could well be warranted with further time in bottle.
