The tasting note for 2018 Francois Lumpp La Brulee is from Robert Parker - One of Givry's best addresses, Domaine François Lumpp comprises some 9.5 hectares of vines of which 2.5 hectares are devoted to Chardonnay. As of 2018, Lumpp can say that he hasn't used any herbicides for fully 27 years, but while he believes in working the soils and often makes use of products and preparations that are admissible in organic viticulture, he hasn't sought organic certification. Many of the domaine's parcels have been replanted in the last couple of decades with superior vine material taken from Burgundy's best domaines—something that's essential if the Côte Chalonnaise is to make qualitative progress. A respected vigneron who is held in high esteem by his peers in the Côte d'Or, Lumpp eschews stylistic extremes in the cellar, fermenting destemmed fruit with temperature control and maturing his wines in barrels- 70% new for the reds and 30% new for the whites. These bottles are a staple of France's best restaurants' wine lists for good reason.
