A consignor who has been drinking wine more seriously for the past 25 years and gaining knowledge through tastings. He is a drinker first and a collector second. All wine was bought at the SAQ, either in stores, or lotteries, and was stored in his cellar immediately after the purchase. He chooses wine based on producers more than appellation and firmly believes that wine is meant to be shared. It is his hope that these bottles make their way to like minded individuals.
The score for 2020 Domaine Armand Rousseau Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru is 92-94 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers up aromas of cherries, red berries, raw cocoa, sweet soil tones and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and nicely concentrated, it's seamless and elegant, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a penetrating finish. It's a terrific follow-up to the excellent 2019. The 2020 harvest chez Rousseau began on August 24th, with below-average yields, as was so often the case in Pinot Noir up and down the Côte. Cyrielle Rousseau admires the wines' unexpected freshness and attractive natural balance, an admiration I share. Unusually saturated in hue and undeniably concentrated, though not at the expense of the suave Rousseau house style, readers with the necessary connections and disposable income shouldn't hesitate to acquire these wines. Given their structure and vibrant acids, it wouldn't surprise me if these shut down after bottling, even if I don't think they will ever seem actively austere, so plan on exercising a bit of patience.
