A Toronto-based collector whose passion in wine ignited while dining frequently in the city's restaurants. He then married a woman from France and spent extended periods travelling around the country, tasting wines from all the top regions. All the wines except the magnum of port were bought directly from local importers or the LCBO. Everything was stored from purchase at the Vintage Conservatory in Toronto.

Producer notes- The Magnien family is one of the oldest wine families in Burgundy and, in particular, the Côte de Nuits thanks to Domaine Henri Magnien, a family estate that put down roots in Gevrey Chambertin in the 1600s. No less than twelve generations have exploited here a magnificent plot made largely of old vines in Gevrey-Chambertin and Corton . The estate as it exists today was created by Henri Magnien in 1987, and today operated by Charles Magnien. The vineyard covers 6 hectares of old vines (mass family selection) which Charles cares for brilliantly. The culture is reasoned and the winemaking is quite traditional. Charles invested in the winery to further increase the quality of the wines. A new winery was inaugurated in 2018. The wines have a lot of charm, flexibility and elegance, with a classic use of new barrels and moderate extraction. A sincere and elegant expression of the quintessence of Pinot Noir!
