A consignor from BC, his passion for wine began 30 years ago. He built a temperature and humidity-controlled cellar in the 90s and stores his collection there. The bottles were all sourced either direct from the producers or through Marquis Wine Cellars in Vancouver.
The rating for 1998 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Washington is 96 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Blackberry jam, juniper berries, and spices can be found in the rich aromatics of the stunning, dark-colored 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon. A wine of awesome breadth, width, concentration, and power, this full-bodied beauty is crammed with lush layers of blackberries, plums, and cassis. This offering's prodigious fruit envelopes its copious silky tannin. Additionally, it displays an extraordinarily long finish.
The rating for 2001 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Washington is 96 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Funky and woody on the nose, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon still has elements of dried red cherry and black raspberry reduction with cinnamon-covered currants on the nose. I am sensing some bottle variance, but the full-bodied wine goes on to show a delightful structure that should hold together for a few more years in the bottle. Ultimately, the wine ends with a tannic edge over the long conclusion, ending with mature flavors of stewed fruit compote with an element of old oak and pine bark.
The rating for 2002 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Washington is 96 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is mature and near-term in the glass with earthy and funky tones that resonate with the remnants of a once-sweet fruit frame that has shifted almost fully into a stewed fruit core. Full-bodied, I recommend drinking this in the next few years, as it currently offers elements of dried blackberries and tar across the mid-palate. For a generous wine, it's starting to wind down and only has a few years left. I recommend enjoying this bottle with an aged ribeye steak.
The rating for 1997 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Washington is 94 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon was fashioned from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It offers a boisterous rosemary and black fruit-scented nose. Big, broad, and chewy, this medium to full-bodied wine is packed with black fruits, spices, and hints of tar. It is masculine, concentrated, and in need of cellaring.
The rating for 2004 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is 98 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Becoming tertiary and slightly funky with dried black fruit aromas, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon also has dusty plum and elements of dried herbs with sweet oak essences on the nose. The wine also wilted violets and lilac elements with notions of high-toned dark red fruit flavors of black raspberry, wild strawberry, currants and crème de cassis. With a full body and elements of tree bark and forest floor on the palate, this wine shows oddly more appealing than the 2005 at their current states. This 2004 is performing beautifully for its age and is among the highlights of the 20-year vertical. Remaining incredibly stable, I believe the 2004 will last longer than the 2005 bottling. Completely stellar and surprising! Bravo!
