With over 15 years in the wine and spirits industry, this consignor is a bonafide whisky enthusiast. He is a certified sommelier who has served as a wine and spirits instructor, brand ambassador for several renowned whisky brands in Toronto, and manager of a fine wine and spirits store in Vancouver. Currently, he manages private whisky collections. The bottles in his collection were purchased across Canada, Newfoundland to Victoria, except for some bourbon form the US and a few high-end bottles of whisky from Scotland. He remembers buying the first bottle in October 2008 in Calgary. A pristine collection, that was stored, upright, in wooden cabinets behind closed doors in his basement for 10 years. The four years prior to coming to Iron Gate saw the bottles in closed hard plastic storage boxes in a secured temperature-controlled storage facility in the GTA.
The famed Sazerac Coffee House was founded in 1850 on Exchange Alley in New Orleans, Louisiana and soon gained fame as the home of “America’s First Cocktail” known as the Sazerac. Using rye whiskey in place of the French brandy, a dash of Peychaud Bitters, and Herbsaint, what eventually became the official cocktail of New Orleans was created. This straight rye has a mellow spice and dry sweetness that dances on the tongue, giving pure delight that is worthy of the Sazerac name. Distilled in Spring of 1985 and released in the Fall of 2011, this Sazarac 18 Year Old was bottled from only 28 hand picked barrels, with a mashbill of Minnesota Rye, Kentucky Corn and North Dakota Malted Barley. Rested for 18 years in warehouse K. Btld2011
