Growing up in the Western Cape of South Africa, this consignor always had a deep interest in wine, though access to great bottles was limited. Around 2009/2010, he began collecting wine on a modest budget. His collection grew primarily through the LCBO programs, but he also made it a point to bring back a bottle or two of the prestigious Vine de Constance every time he visited South Africa. All his wines are carefully stored in his purpose-built cellar, designed with both temperature and humidity control for optimal preservation.

This liquid is simply alive in the mouth, culminating in an epically long finish that will leave your mouth practically tingling. WOW!
The rating for 2017 Chateau Leoville Poyferre St Julien is 94+ points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Léoville Poyferré needs a little coaxing to reveal pretty scents of violets, Black Forest cake and blueberry preserves with hints of raspberry leaves, roses, cigar box and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, the palate has a quiet intensity with loads of subtle layers and a well-poised frame of soft, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and refreshing.
The rating for 2018 Chateau Leoville Poyferre St Julien is 97 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in 80% new oak barriques, the 2018 Léoville Poyferré comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of Morello cherries, plum preserves and blackberry pie, giving way to nuances of cedar chest, unsmoked cigars, vanilla pod and sassafras, plus a waft of crushed rocks. The palate is full-bodied, rich and decadent, delivering hedonic black fruits and lots of spicy accents with a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and satisfyingly savory. This is a very impressive showing that is delicious out of the gate but has the backbone to give a good 30 years or more of pleasure.
