This prestigious collection comes to Iron Gate from a revered connoisseur and long-time wine collector. Lover of American wines, he spent many years sourcing them from some of the USA's finest properties and had them stored professionally at 55 Degrees in Napa Valley. Recognizing his cellar had grown far beyond what he could reasonably consume, he's brought the wines to auction to share with fellow enthusiasts.
The score for2003 Domaine de Beaurenard Boisrenard Chateauneuf du Pape is 94 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -The structured and backward, inky ruby/purple-colored 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Boisrenard offers notes of chocolate, cocoa, smoke, creme de cassis and black cherry liqueur. Some licorice also makes it into the picture. The wine is full-bodied, layered, softer than previous vintages, with tremendous voluptuousness to the texture as well as an expansive, broad, persistent finish. The score for2005 Domaine de Beaurenard Boisrenard Chateauneuf du Pape is 95 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -While I have some concerns with the tannin in the classic cuvee, I’ve no such reservations with the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Boisrenard and it’s a gorgeous wine that’s still young and vibrant. Cassis, licorice, sweet oak, menthol and spice and all emerge here, and it’s full-bodied, big-boned and structured, with a balancing amount of fruit and texture. Give this beauty another year or three and enjoy bottles through 2030.
