A Toronto based consignor and member of the wine community whose collection is largely focused on Burgundy. He has been collecting wine for a long time and is starting to pare down his cellars in hopes that others will enjoy and learn about wine. Wine was procured through various outlets, LCBO, agents, auction, and direct from the producers and stored professionally and in a temperature and humidity-controlled cellar in his home.
The tasting note for 2010 Domaine Roger Sabon Le Secret des Sabon Chateauneuf du Pape is from Robert Parker and the score is 99+ - On another level, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Secret du Sabon is insanely good and possibly up there with some of the greatest Chateauneufs ever made. Loaded with notions of black fruits, black licorice, roasted herbs and olive tapenade, it's a thrilling example of Grenache and of Chateauneuf du Pape. Full-bodied, massively concentrated and structured. The tasting note for 2016 Domaine Roger Sabon Le Secret des Sabon Chateauneuf du Pape is from Robert Parker and the score is 96+ - I tasted the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape le Secret de Sabon blind, alongside the other 2016s from this fine estate, and failed to discern a huge difference between it and the impressive Prestige or Reserve bottlings. I don't doubt that time will prove my rating to be conservative, hence the + sign. Winemaker Didier Négron retained some stems in this cuvée, and they show for the moment in its slightly herbal-minty notes, but they're balanced by ripe Grenache fruit that suggests apricot and plum. Lavender and thyme join in on the creamy, lush finish of this full-bodied but elegant offering.
