A Quebec based consignor whose passion for wine began in the early 1990s after joining a local wine club featuring winemaker presentations and paired tastings. Inspired by these experiences, he started collecting bottles he particularly enjoyed—an interest that grew over time. Most of his collection was acquired through the SAQ, supplemented by select private imports from wine agencies in Quebec and Ontario. The wines have been meticulously stored in his home cellar and in temperature-controlled facilities at various SAQ locations.
1997 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - Wine Spectator 93 points, The Wine Advocate 92 points, CellarTracker 92 points, Tom Cannavan 92 points, Winedoctor 91 points. This is the tasting note for 1997 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from Robert Parker - This is the last finished vintage of Le Pergole Torte seen by Sergio Manetti. Martino's father would die three years later in 2000. The 1997 Le Pergole Torte is an impressive wine that shows a tight and slightly nervous personality. The wine opens very slowly and with timid footsteps to eventually reveal a full and generous disposition. Of course, the popular winemaking style back in 1997 saw wines with big extract and lots of oak. Many of these expressions appear tired and oxidized today. That's why an intact and linear wine like this is such a special treat. 1998 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - Wine Spectator 91 points, CellarTracker 91 points, Tom Cannavan 91 points. This is the tasting note for 1998 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from Wine Spectator - Class in a glass. Dark ruby color. Aromas of blackberries, mineral, grilled meat follow through to a full-bodied, very tight tannin structure, with a chewy finish. 1999 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - Decanter 97 points, Winedoctor 95 points. This is the tasting note for 1999 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from Tom Cannavan - Martino believes this will be one of the longest lived of the recent Pergole Tortes. It has a more vibrant colour, with a garnet core. There's a cedary aspect on the nose, with toffee and ripe red fruit. Nice glossy fruit quality on the palate, with blackcurrant and cherry, and a really deep sweetness of fruit. This is supple and quite creamy on the mid palate, with a clean, pure cherry character and brisk but chocolaty tannins. Chewy, savoury and well balanced in the finish. 2000 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT from this lot has the following scores - CellarTracker 93 points, Tom Cannavan 93 points, Vinous 91 points, Winedoctor 91 points.
