A Toronto-based collector with a passion for fine wine. Built with impeccable provenance and meticulous care, wines were acquired via cellar door, mailing lists, and trusted agencies and retailers in the city. Wines were housed in a temperature and humidity-controlled home cellar until landing with Iron Gate.
The score for 2007 Opus One Napa Valley is 95 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Two of the strongest wines ever made at Opus One, the 2007 has terrific black currant fruit, licorice, incense, and subtle smoke, an opulent, even voluptuous mouthfeel, dazzling purity and texture, and a skyscraper-like mouthfeel. This is a sensational Opus One, with sweet tannin and impressive precision and depth. It can be drunk now or cellared for 25+ years. The score for 2010 Opus One Napa Valley is 96 from Robert Parker and the tasting note - A glorious perfume of sweet charcoal, truffle, black currants and spice box soars from the glass of the saturated purple-colored 2010 Opus One. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a beautifully knit, full-bodied red blend (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5.5% Merlot, 5.5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec) displaying lots of spicy black currant fruit, medium to full body, velvety tannins, and not a hard edge to be found. The texture, length and richness are all impressive. This estate has been making great Cabernet-based wines for nearly a decade ... and this is another one. Drink it over the next 20+ years.
